Description: | The State University of New York’s Empire State College, invites applications and nominations for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs. Each year, SUNY Empire State College serves more than 20,000 mostly part-time learners who seek associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees on site at 34 locations in New York, and in 10 foreign countries, and online across the state, the country and internationally.
The college offers undergraduate programs in 11 broad areas of study and five graduate programs, as well as opportunities for non-degree seeking students. It also offers programs in partnership with other colleges, unions, agencies and employers. Given its affordable tuition, assessment of learning gained through work and life experience, open transfer credit policies, outstanding support services, and degree programs that can be individualized to meet professional and personal goals, SUNY Empire State College consistently ranks No.1 in student satisfaction surveys among SUNY campuses.
The provost and VPAA reports directly to the president, is responsible for all of the college’s undergraduate as well as graduate programs; governance; all relevant academic policies, services, program planning; and all aspects of the faculty’s work. The Office of Academic Affairs is based at the college’s Coordinating Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., but frequent travel across the state is expected for the successful candidate. |
Minimum Qualifications: | Qualifications for the next provost and VPAA include: an earned doctorate from an accredited institution; a record of success in teaching, scholarship, and using innovative and creative approaches to meeting the needs of diverse, traditionally underrepresented, populations; a collaborative and transparent management style; a demonstrated commitment to diversity in curriculum, hiring and staffing, and student populations; and successful experience in all aspects of employee relations.
