My education started at SUNY Cobleskill, then to SUNY Plattsburgh where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
I moved to California to complete my Master’s degree at Pepperdine University, a lifelong dream of mine. I also completed the Los Angeles Marathon while I was there…another lifelong dream of mine, especially being of only average physical fitness.
Upon completion of my Master’s Degree, I accepted a position at Conifer Park as a Clinical Specialist. While working there for nearly 10 years, I was a therapist for many patients and their families from diverse backgrounds. I worked on the Men’s Unit, Women’s Unit, Co-Ed Unit, Detox Unit and Adolescent Unit doing individual and group therapy. My specialty areas are working with Families and MICA (Mentally Ill, Chemically Addicted).
While there, I was promoted to Internship Program Coordinator and was delighted to be working with and mentoring adult students who were serious about pursuing a career and still doing my Clinical Specialist work. I realized that my passion was counseling, with both motivated and unmotivated people, yet my favorite part of the job was helping students pursue their education and career. So, in 2003 I went to SAGE Graduate School and completed Certification in Guidance and Counseling.
I am very happy with where life has brought me! I am excited to be tutoring Group Work Practices at Empire State College and working with adult students. I am a Senior Training Specialist with LaSalle Consulting and facilitate trainings throughout New York State for employed adults on various professional issues. I also am a business owner of a Property Maintenance company called, Pro Turf. Last, but not least, I am a mother of two children who I am very proud of.
