Subject: Create a Meet Your Classmates Profile Document

One of the first things you should do in your course is create a Profile document for yourself in the "Meet Your Classmates" area and encourage your students (using the Newsflash area), once the course opens, to go in and edit their automatically created blank profile document. The profiles helps students get to know each other, and you, virtually. Remember that some of your students will model their profile on yours, in terms of length and type of information shared. So think carefully about what you want your students to know about you and each other.

IMPORTANT: at the beginning of the course each student must edit their blank profile document in order to get a Private Folder (the system will create the folder for them once they add and save some text to their profile).

Meet Your Classmates is the first item in the Class Community area of your Course Map as shown on the illustration below. The second illustration shows the Meet Your Classmates Menu and the Introduce Yourself Here button used to create a new Profile document.
