Welcome to "Web Management for Teaching Your Online Course". This is a self-paced tutorial for instructors who are teaching an already developed online Empire State College course. These courses are offered through the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) or SUNY CourseSpace. This tutorial will allow you to become familiar with the look, feel and terminology of this learning environment. You will also develop an understanding of the skills required to facilitate an online course successfully.
This tutorial is available to you at any time so bookmark it and return any time you want to review a topic. You may have come to this course for self-study or been assigned to review it as part of a group training. If you are working through it on your own, we suggest that you complete the tutorial in sections so that you have time to practice and reflect on each module. However, it is possible to complete it in one sitting within 2.5 to 3 hours. If you are working through this course with a facilitator from Empire State College, follow the time table on the schedule you receive.
You can return to this material at any time during your teaching for review. The more you familiarize yourself with the aspects of teaching an online course before the term starts, the easier it will be for you to teach and manage your course during the term.
