Subject: Wrapping Up and Next Steps

You have almost completed the tutorial. There is only a brief Self-Test left for you to take. Then we let you loose to either go into a practice database (see details below) so you can actually get some hands-on experience doing some of the actions mentioned in the tutorial, or skip that and begin working in your own course(s).

This tutorial is available to you anytime you wish to reference it. The old saying "Practice makes Perfect" is true. There are a lot of different areas for you to become acquainted with and you may forget some of it by the time you actually need it. However, if you spend the time now getting comfortable with the online course environment, it will be much easier (and probably less time-consuming) once the semester begins and you start interacting with your students.

ACCESS TO A PRACTICE TEMPLATE (FOR HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE):
Please fill out this Online Help Form and say that you are a new tutor and want access to a practice course template. The Help Desk will then send you via e-mail the username and password and URL to enter to access the practice template so you can create evaluations, edit the Newsflash area, use the different views within the Professor Navigator to look at student submissions, and so on. The passwords and practice templates available are limited in number so we are limiting their use to two weeks from when you receive the e-mail, and ask that you submit a request only if you are going to use it (which we highly recommend as your last effort in the training process to "tie it all together").

IMPORTANT:
If you haven't done so already, please look at and print out the documents located in the "Handouts" section of the Course Information Documents section of this tutorial. There are several useful handouts ("What to do and how to do it," "Your Next Steps," etc.) designed specifically to help you as you begin the process of teaching and managing your Empire State College online courses.

If you have any questions, please click on the ASK A QUESTION link below. Now go to the next document to complete the culminating self-assessment.
