Greetings! Although I am fairly new to Empire State College, I’m not new to the field of education. I have a Masters Degree in Education and have enjoyed the rewards of teaching people from age 5 to 95. As an Instructional Support Associate here at ESC, I work closely with course developers as they convert their print courses to the Web. I help developers conceptualize their course and infuse it with strong instructional design and pedagogical approaches that have been proven to work in web-based teaching and learning. Many of my course developers then move on to become first time web tutors.
Yogi Berra said it best, "You can observe a lot by just looking around". Familiarizing yourself with the many features that can assist you in managing your course from the Web before the term begins will make it easier for you to teach and manage your course. I think you'll find your first term of teaching on-line to be a very rewarding experience.
