First Name:
Robert (Bob)
Last Name:
Hassenger
College:
Empire State College
Although I've been with Empire State College for thirty years, and the Center for Distance Learning since its invention, this is my first Web course. I have been responsible for a number of these, as the Area Coordinator for Social Sciences. But, I have never done one myself. For those interested in pedigrees, I did my undergradute work at Notre Dame, and my graduate work at The University of Chicago. I returned to Notre Dame to teach in the Department of Sociology (1965-71), and spent a year as a visiting professor at Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College, before joining Empire State College as a mentor in the Genesee Valley Center, in 1972. In 1974, I became associate dean, then acting dean, at the Niagara Frontier Center, before moving to Saratoga Springs in 1977. I am married, and have six children, from 16 to 38. Despite the mounting evidence that it is an activity of diminishing returns, I am a competitor in masters track and field.
