There are no written assignments until the second one, in a couple of weeks. You can count on it being an extension of the initial assignment, a consideration of the paradoxes of freedom. Has your thinking changed, since you wrote the first assignment? How? What do the authors mean by "communities of memory"? By "lifestyle enclaves"? Are these useful concepts? Why or why not? Does "individualism" have to be a bad thing? Was the New England small town, or the Midwestern "Pleasantville," as pasteurized as it may seem in retrospect?
