Description: | This study will familiarize students with the writings of U.S. Latinas and Latinos--persons of Latin American descent living in the United States--in English and in hybrid forms of Spanglish. "Latina/o" is an umbrella term for persons who may identify more strongly with an ethnic American identity, such as Mexican-American or Chicana/o, Puerto Rican or Nuyorican, Dominican-American, Cuban-American, and others. This study focuses primarily on 20th century fiction, drama, and memoir.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Literature, Introduction to Fiction, or a comparable literature study. |
