APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Admission to the Empire State College graduate program is selective.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to gather supporting credentials and submit completed materials.

A completed application consists of the following:

Resume - Submit your resume including previous experience, education and other achievements.

Social Security or Assigned Empire State College Identification Number - In accordance with the Privacy Act, use of the Social Security number is voluntary. If you do not wish to have your Social Security number used for identification and record keeping purposes, Empire State College will assign a student identification number.

Proof of Immunization - You must comply with the New York State Health Law requiring proof of immunization for measles, mumps and rubella if you were born on or after January 1, 1957 and confirmation regarding information about meningococcal meningitis. Exceptions to this law include demonstrated medical or religious reasons.

Residency and Citizenship Information - If you are an international student, your New York state residency status will be determined by the kind of VISA you hold and information you provide on the application form. If you hold, or expect to receive an F1 VISA, please contact the International Student Advisor at admissions@esc.edu

Students whose native language is not English, must submit TOEFL scores. The Center for Graduate Programs will accept TOEFL test scores taken within the last three years. You must score a minimum of 250 (electronic) or 100 on the iBT (International base test) to be considered for admission.

Education - To be considered for graduate study, you must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and provide official undergraduate transcripts. If you have taken any graduate courses and wish them to be considered for transfer, you must submit an official transcript. The courses must be less than seven years old with a minimum grade of “B.”

Official transcripts are required for all institutions you have listed on the application. It is essential to have your official transcripts sent as soon as possible. They must be sent directly from the college or university you attended to: Admissions Office, Empire State College, 2 Union Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Requests for official transcripts must be made in writing to the original institution. You may want to contact the institution(s) prior to making your written request to find out if a fee is required.

Note: If you are an Empire State College graduate, you do not need to request a transcript; one will automatically be placed in your application folder.

Recommendations - two letters of recommendation from appropriately qualified persons are required. Personal references are not acceptable.

Essays - there are two required essays for the M.A. and M.B.A. programs and one required essay for the M.A.T. program. You will be able to attach your essay files to the online application.
