Description: | Empire State College seeks a Lotus Domino and Messaging Server Administrator to be responsible for activities related to the college's Lotus Domino application and e-mail servers. Activities include performance monitoring, planning/providing server availability, planning/installing software and hardware upgrades, data backup/recovery procedures, "disaster recovery” planning, server load balancing, scheduling of system maintenance, and managing access control, and security settings. The server administrator should be able to:
- Serve as internal Notes technical consultant to OET staff.
- Provide escalated support for techs and help desk in Lotus Notes, Domino, and Domino Web Access.
- Manage and monitor production and development servers at the Saratoga coordinating center as well as regional locations
- Perform back ups, upgrades and database manipulation as needed.
- Monitor server logs to identify problems, follow-up with appropriate staff to clear server errors and initiate processes to monitor and improve server performance and integrity.
- demonstrate extensive experience with anti-spam software/ appliances, anti-virus and other malware protection.
- demonstrate knowledge of firewall and VPN software.
- Monitor e-mail functions including virus checking. |
Minimum Qualifications: | BS degree or above in related field
- Minimum 2 years experience administering a Lotus Domino 7.x or 8.x platform
- Extensive experience in a Microsoft Windows server environment and related knowledge of network utilities / appliances.
- Basic networking knowledge of SMTP, Mail administration, iMap, POP, LDAP, and SSL security
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. |
Preferred Qualifications: | Preference to individuals with experience in one or more of the following:
Lotus Domino Administrator certification, Blackberry Enterprise server experience, experience with server virtualization in a Lotus Domino Windows environment, experience with Domino “clustering” from both the web and Lotus Notes environments, experience with some Lotus Domino/Notes development. |
Special Information (e.g., travel required, evening hours, etc.): | At least one early morning (7-7:30 am) is required |
Rank/Salary: | $50,000 - $55,000 |
