Description:
The Student Services Specialist works collaboratively with the staff and faculty on the Fort Drum base to coordinate all administrative aspects of student support including facilitation of the army registration and tuition assistance processes, admissions, enrollment support, retention services, work with graduates of the center and, in some cases, outreach/recruitment programs. The Student Services Specialist uses college technology applications to support and monitor activities and outcomes. Special responsibilities are to:

· Communicate routinely with students, faculty, student service staff, support staff and third party contacts regarding GoArmyEd web portal.
· Coordinate daily and routine GoArmyEd processes.
· Organize and maintain student records, operations instructions and routine reports.
· Serve as a point of contact for students who are active duty service members, veterans and military family members as well as Army Education personnel.
· Collaborate with faculty and staff in Watertown on service to military and military-related students.
· Collaborate with faculty, staff and various administrative offices as needed.
· Participate in relevant external and internal college and community organizations, committees and task forces as necessary.
· Ensure effective local handling of inquiries from prospective students online, by phone, at events or in person.
· Conduct information sessions in community, college and organizational setting.

The Central New York Center, with units in Syracuse, Fort Drum, Watertown, Ithaca, Utica, Auburn and Binghamton serves approximately 1,350 students annually. Working closely with faculty and staff within Fort Drum and the Center, the role of the Student Services Specialist is to provide support for high-quality educational services to students and to enhance the college’s reputation within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to organize, prioritize, problem-solve, collaborate and work independently; flexibility and excellent computer skills also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred. Experience with student services in higher education, experience with providing support services for military personnel; experience with innovative academic programs for adult learners; demonstrated commitment to diversity strongly preferred.
Special Information (e.g., travel required, evening hours, etc.):
Regular bi-monthly travel to offices in Syracuse and/or Saratoga Springs; some evening and weekend hours.
