Description: | This is a full-time, professional position in the Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. Center for Labor Studies. The incumbent coordinates all administrative aspects of student support including facilitation of the admissions process, enrollment support and retention services. The job requires excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of adult learners, trade unionism and worker education.
The Student Services Coordinator (SSC) collaborates with Center faculty, staff and the Dean, as well as various internal and external departments using college technology applications to support and monitor student activities and outcomes. The SSC is responsible for developing student service materials for the center; coordinating center tracking and communicating with students and faculty regarding student academic progress and academic standing, as well as other student satisfaction issues. The SSC organizes student enrichment events and activities; advises student organizations and associations; assists students with participation in center and college-wide activities; analyzes data and writes reports; assists with graduation and other student-related events. The SSC serves as center liaison for students with disabilities and/or other specific needs and performs other duties related to the position, as assigned by the Dean. |
Minimum Qualifications: | Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in student services or a similar field, and a demonstrated commitment to adult learners and the labor movement. Demonstrated ability to multi-task; to plan and manage time and work effort and to communicate clearly and work well with others; demonstrated mastery of computer applications including relevant word processing and data and information management software; demonstrated interest in the mission of a college that serves adult learners, and in the services intended to enhance student success in a college environment, and to the Van Arsdale Center’s trade union constituents. |
Preferred Qualifications: | Master’s degree and increasingly responsible experience in student services in a non-traditional higher education setting, community services for working adults, or in an adult/ trade union or labor movement non-traditional setting preferred. |
Special Information (e.g., travel required, evening hours, etc.): | Evening hours and occasional travel are required. |
Rank/Salary: | $42,000 - $50,000 |
