Faculty work with students in one-on-one, small group, residency-based and on-line learning modes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and the mix varies by setting. Central to the faculty role is helping adults design and carry out individualized degrees. The college is a pioneer in mentoring adult learners, prior learning assessment and on-line learning.

Description:
- Fulfills the expectations and level of service expected by a Vice President at a SUNY state-operated campus.
- Provides overall direction to strategic planning, and advice to the Cabinet, governance bodies and the President.
- Leads and coordinates the college’s planning processes, and develops appropriate report cards that track and display the college’s achievements in key areas.
- Ensures coordination between SUNY system administration’s, and the college’s planning.
- Provides expert support to the office for enrollment management.
- Ensures, with the staff assigned to this portfolio, the development and management of the means of assessing student learning and other institutional outcomes, building results into institutional planning and improvement initiatives, developing and overseeing the college institutional research function, and providing research support for accreditation reviews.
- Provides senior level direction on the data warehouse and business intelligence projects’ development and implementation.
- Ensures the coordination and facilitation of assigned committees.
- With the Cabinet, contributes to the general management of the college.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with other agencies, colleges, universities, SUNY, State Education, MSCHE, federal departments and similar organizations internationally as appropriate.
- Represents the college at a senior level to SUNY system-level governing bodies and interests, committees, working groups, various industry, higher education and community constituents, and stakeholder groups as required;
- Acts for other cabinet members or the president as required.
- Undertakes other related duties as assigned by the President.
- Provides relevant policy and program development advice to the cabinet.
- Prepares related correspondence and other documents for internal college use and/or for external agencies.
- Analyzes, develops, and manages related budget and staffing resources.
- Serves as liaison with external constituencies (e.g. SUNY System, regional and national organizations).
- Coordinates the Institutional Review Board activities
- Disseminates and communicates results of outcomes assessment and other research to internal and external audiences, including scholarly communities, and provides expert assistance related to outcomes assessment.
- Coordinates the activities of institutional research office.
- Coordinates the collection and dissemination of the Student Assessment of Learning Experiences Survey (SALE).
- Produces the college’s Fact Book annually.
- Coordinates credit and other reporting to SUNY.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of a master’s degree (P.h.D preferred) in an appropriate field, such as business administration, education, social sciences, public administration or related discipline that includes thorough grounding in statistical methods and analysis.
- Familiarity with adult-focused higher education is a necessity, preferably in New York state.
- Evidence of active professional development and commitment to ongoing engagement with the practices of planning, institutional research and measuring effectiveness in adult learning.
- 15 years related, progressive experience in post-secondary institutions that serve adult learners, and at least 8 years in a senior leadership position.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and policy development and analysis in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in conceptualizing, initiating and leading mission related research projects.
- Experience in developing robust and valid methods of measuring and reporting all aspects of institutional effectiveness.
- Extensive knowledge of the technology and processes involved in data warehousing and analysis.
- Successful experience with presentations to internal governing bodies, and external stakeholders, including elected officials.
- Good working knowledge of the regulatory policies, and educational context of SUNY.
- Superior organizational planning, communication skills and facilitation of team building within and across divisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
