Description:
Empire State College’s Center for Learning and Technology seeks an instructional technologist to support faculty use of technology to enhance learning at three locations associated with the college’s Long Island Center: Old Westbury, Hauppauge and Riverhead. The college serves adult learners across a variety of learning modes including blended learning, guided independent study, study groups and residency activities.

Responsibilities:
- Consult one-on-one with faculty to enhance teaching and learning activities.
- Provide technology support to faculty, both in person and at a distance.
- Provide instructional design consultation to faculty using the ANGEL learning management system and other web-based technologies.
- Select, evaluate and assist faculty in experimenting with a variety of web-based tools and resources.
- Lead workshops and other faculty development activities face-to-face and at a distance.
- Work as part of a college instructional technology team to develop learning supports and services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree. At least one year experience working directly with college faculty. Training in instructional design, educational technology, or related field. Demonstrated ability to apply technology to improve college level teaching and learning. Demonstrated ability to provide technology support at a distance. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a development team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, technology-mediated learning, and learning theory. Experience with course management systems, Web 2.0 tools, web page or multimedia development. Experience delivering support and workshops at a distance. Interest and willingness to explore new tools and uses of technology to support learning.
Special Information (e.g., travel required, evening hours, etc.):
This position requires weekly travel between center and unit offices and some regional locations, occasional evening and weekend hours, and occasional day trips and overnight travel within New York State. This position is best suited to someone who prefers a fast paced environment and seeks to actively develop new skills and grow in understanding of learning and technology.
