Description:
Students can use this guided independent study to explore what religion is and to think about the many connections between religion and society. For example, a student might design a study to examine questions such as: What functions do various belief systems serve in society? What are the effects of religion upon society? What are the effects of society upon religion? How can we think about religion as social, political and cultural expression?

Together, the student and mentor will also develop a plan of study that will focus on an individual research project dealing with questions, problems, and issues relevant to the multiple links between society and religion, and of interest to the student.

Please contact Alan Mandell to discuss this tutorial before the start of the study term.

Students who want credit amounts other than 4 should contact their primary mentor to have a study added to their worksheet that meets their needs.
